§ 7.05.22. Pay parking rates, regulations, and penalties.

  • (A)

    The city pay parking rates shall be as follows:

    (1)

    High intensity zones shall cost $1.00 per hour ($0.25 per 15 minutes);

    (2)

    Moderate intensity zones shall cost $0.75 per hour ($0.25 per 20 minutes);

    (3)

    Low intensity zones shall cost $0.50 per hour ($0.25 per 30 minutes);

    (4)

    Single space short term parking meters shall be no more than a 20-minute time limit and will cost ($0.25 per ten minutes and $0.50 per 20 minutes).

    (B)

    Unless otherwise designated at the parking meter, it shall be unlawful to park a motor vehicle in the same metered space for more than two consecutive hours on streets with parking meters, as determined by the service-safety director. This shall also apply to any two-hour parking space in the city parking garage:

    Said vehicle shall be moved from its present parking space to a non-adjoining parking space before the second consecutive hour of parking expires.

    (C)

    It shall be unlawful to park a motor vehicle in the same metered pay parking space for more than four consecutive hours in an accessible parking space. Said vehicle shall be moved from its present parking space to a non-adjoining parking space before the fourth consecutive hour of parking in an accessible space has expired.

    Locations of accessible parking spaces shall be at the discretion of the service-safety director.

    (D)

    Meter attendants are hereby authorized to issue tickets on yellow curb zone, red curb loading zone, white, orange and blue curb restricted zone parking violations, parking meter pay parking violations, accessible parking space violations and two/four-hour limit violations for the City of Athens, State of Ohio, in addition to any and all other authority granted by the Athens City Code.

Editor's note

Section II of Ord. No. 0-129-13, adopted Dec. 2, 2013, states "All new and replacement signage in the City of Athens that refers to a facility or parking space that accommodates a person(s) with a disability must refer to that facility or parking space as "accessible."
