§ 5.04.08. Sewer rates.

Latest version.
  • The service charge for any lot, parcel of land or premises situated within the corporate limits of the city having any connection with the city sanitary sewage system and discharging sewage, industrial wastes, water or other liquids into the city sewage system shall be based upon the quantity of water used as measured by the city water meter there in use. Said rates are based upon each 1,000 gallons of water consumed at each service connection or meter at the rates established by the user charge system adopted herein by reference.

On an annual basis, the service-safety director shall prepare a user charge report which clearly demonstrates the relationship between the costs, rates and the expected revenues. This report shall be the basis for the rates to be charged to all users. Rates will be established for excess B.O.D. and suspended solids for surcharge rates should they become necessary.

Customers served outside the corporate limits of the City of Athens, Ohio, shall be charged the above rates, plus an additional ten percent.

No user shall receive benefit of sanitary sewer service without payment of the proportionate share of costs as established by the user charge system on an annual basis of the rate and that portion of the sewer service charge which is attributable to the O, M & R cost for waste water treatment services.
