§ 9.01.06. Dogs; rabies control.

  • Whenever the mayor or the board of health shall deem it necessary for the protection of the public, he or it shall issue an order prohibiting, for a certain time therein specified, any dog from being at large in any public street or place, unless muzzled and on leash, so as effectually to prevent it from biting any person or animal. Such order shall be posted in three or more conspicuous places in the city, for the time that the mayor shall deem necessary, and any dog found at large during the existence of such quarantine order shall be impounded and may be destroyed by city authority without notice to the owner. Whenever it is deemed necessary for the aforesaid purpose, the mayor or board may extend the time of expiration of such order by posting notice in the same manner as above set forth, of the period of extension.
