§ 7.05.26. Regulation of city parking garage.

  • (A)

    The service-safety director of the city, unless the council of the city shall direct otherwise, is empowered to regulate, control, police and maintain parking facilities as he/she may deem necessary for the proper control of the parking lot on Inlot No. 89 on Washington Street, the City of Athens, Ohio.

    (B)

    Effective May 1, 2015, the city parking garage rates and regulations are established as follows:

    (1)

    Seventy-five cents per hour and twenty-five cents per 20 minutes;

    (2)

    Card system charges will be seventy-five cents per hour and refunds will be in 20-minute increments.

    (3)

    One hundred twenty-five dollars per month to reserve a space on levels Lower B, Upper B, and Lower 1;

    (4)

    Seventy-five dollars per space per month for 50 non-reserved;

    (5)

    Reserved space parking be restricted to levels Lower B, Upper B, and Lower 1 only;

    (6)

    Except for elected officials, employees of the City of Athens whose primary duty-work site is in City Hall, City Hall Annex, the city parking garage or a downtown office leased by the city may park on Level 3 or above without charge in the city parking garage during official work time only. This privilege applies only to permanent employees and does not apply to vehicles operated by other than city employees.

    (7)

    It shall be unlawful to park a motor vehicle in a metered space for more than two consecutive hours on level 1 upper or any metered pay parking space, signed or bagged as two-hour limit within the parking garage. Said vehicle must be moved from its present parking space to a parking space that is not marked, signed or bagged as a two-hour limit.

    (C)

    The provisions relating to city parking garage rates apply 24 hours per day, Monday through Saturday. Sundays and holidays are exempt from charges.

    (D)

    City parking rates for the College Street lots [shall] be established as follows:

    (1)

    Seventy-five dollars per month per space for monthly permit in the College Street lots except for the space reserved for the Presbyterian Church;

    (2)

    Hourly pay spaces will cost $1.00 per hour.
