§ 7.05.12. Special parking locations for persons with disabilities.

  • (A)

    The mayor or service-safety director shall designate by the use of a sign bearing the international wheelchair symbol, special parking locations for persons with disabilities and on new or replacement signs in accordance with Section 4511.69 of the Ohio Revised Code. The mayor or service-safety director shall place on new or replacement signs a notice that states the applicable fine for the offense.

    (B)

    No person who does not have a disability or not operating a motor vehicle to transport a person(s) with a disability shall stop, stand, or park any motor vehicle at special parking locations provided for under paragraph (A) of this section, or at a clearly marked parking locations provided in or on privately owned parking lots, parking garages, or other parking areas and designated in accordance with that division.

    (C)

    As used in this section, Ohio Revised Code Section 4511.69 shall apply.

Editor's note

Section I of Ord. No. 0-129-13, adopted Dec. 2, 2013, changed the title of § 7.05.12 from "Special parking locations for the handicapped" to "Special parking locations for persons with disabilities." Section II of said ordinance states "All new and replacement signage in the City of Athens that refers to a facility or parking space that accommodates a person(s) with a disability must refer to that facility or parking space as "accessible."
