§ 5.02.10. Rates.

  • (A)

    Effective January 1, 2002, householders serviced by the City of Athens shall pay according to rates established by separate ordinance.

    (1)

    Any additional containers over the base or two containers service will be picked up on the sticker plan.

    (2)

    Stickers will be sold by mail or may be purchased in the utilities billing office singly and in booklet form, and the charge will be according to rates established by separate ordinance. Said charge is collected to cover the cost of disposal of additional solid waste.

    (3)

    Householders placing containers without a sticker and in excess of the contracted base or two container limit shall be charged double sticker the sticker amount.

    (4)

    The utilities supervisor will provide a form and procedure for solution of disputed penalty charges.

    (5)

    No more than four containers shall be placed for collection.

    (6)

    In cases where excessive pickup time is incurred or there exists high difficulty of access, surcharges shall be negotiated between the commercial operator and the licensed hauler, subject to the approval of the service-safety director.

    (7)

    A delinquent commercial garbage bill is a bill remaining unpaid for 30 days after the billing date.

    (B)

    Rates for special hauls by the city vendor for solid waste items shall be charged according to rates established by separate ordinance.
