§ 3.07.50. Establishment of commission.

  • (A)

    There is hereby created and established a municipal arts commission consisting of the mayor or his/her designee, a member of city council, and seven members of whom shall be appointed by the mayor with the advice and consent of Athens City Council. Four members of the commission shall be electors of the city and three members may reside outside the corporate limits.

    (B)

    Initial appointments shall be as follows: three of the appointed members of the commission shall serve terms of one year; and two of the appointed members shall serve terms of two years. After the initial appointments establishing the commission, all members shall be appointed to two-year terms. Vacancies on this commission occurring otherwise than by the expiration of terms, shall be filled for the unexpired term and appointed in the same manner as the original appointments. No commission member shall serve more than three full consecutive two-year terms. After being away from service on the commission for one year, the former member may again be eligible for appointment. All members shall serve without compensation.
