§ 33.01.01. Commission membership.

There is hereby established a shade tree commission consisting of seven members and two alternates, all residents of the City of Athens, to be appointed as follows:
(A)

Five members, who shall be the voting members, and two alternates, to be appointed by the mayor with the approval of council.

(1)

All members shall serve without compensation;

(2)

All members appointed by the mayor, with the approval of council, shall serve two-year terms. The two alternates appointed by the mayor, with the approval of council, shall serve two-year terms. The commission shall appoint its own chairperson from among its voting members. In the event of the death or resignation of any member, a successor shall be appointed from the alternates to serve the unexpired term for which such member had been appointed.

(B)

A member of city council and the mayor, or his/her designee; who will serve as nonvoting ex-officio members.
